In the past ten to fifteen years, dermal filler injections have become very popular. What exactly is a dermal filler injection? Well, the product that is injected under the skin is called hyaluronic acid. This is a substance that is natural in every human body - you find it in your eyes, in your joints, and under the skin. It's a very natural kind of product, which has made it a very effective and safe thing to be used for injections in the face. The product essentially adds volume into any area that we choose to add volume to and that is put under the skin and generally will stay in that position for any length of period of time. Typically, the areas that move a little bit more, say the mouth area - filler in this region lasts about 6-9 months. Other areas that don't move at all, say under the eye or the cheek can last anywhere from a year and a half to three years. Depending on what you're looking for, we can talk about what kind of filler is most appropriate for you and the procedure that will best get you your results. The nice thing about these procedures is that they're in the office, they usually last about 20 minutes or less, you can do it on your lunch break and then go back to work, put make-up on it immediately, and enjoy it as soon as you walk out the door.
